Peter Applegarth AM KC
The Honourable Peter Applegarth AM KC was a Judge of the Supreme Court between 2008 and 2024. He was Principal Commercial List Judge prior to his retirement.
Before becoming a Judge, he was at the Bar for 22 years, practising in a broad range of civil litigation that included commercial disputes, professional negligence, insurance, and media law cases.
Peter is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law. He studied at the University of Queensland (LLB,1st Class Hons) and the University of Oxford (BCL), teaches law at the University of Queensland, and is undertaking a PhD at the University of Sydney.
He is available for appointment as an arbitrator, a mediator, or a complex case management facilitator.
